ANNUAL REPORT OF
THE CHELSTON CHRISTIAN BRETHREN ( CMML ) ASSEMBLY FOR THE YEAR ENDING
2006 PRENTED AT THE AGM ON
4TH MARCH, 2007
1.0
INTRODUCTION
The assembly of the Lord’s people at
Chelston was planted in 1980 by a group of brethren from Chilenje
Christian Brethren Assembly. Notable amongst them were brothers Chalwe
lwando, Yamfwa, Ezron Walima and youths like Chola Chiteshe and Obinet
Santulu.
By
1981 the brethren moved from gathering in their homes to
Chelston
Primary School
. In April 2004, the brethren
relocated to the present Chelston assembly hall on Ngwerere road, off
Palm Drive
.

The
Mission
The Assembly mission to evangelize and bring
souls to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ was the main
driving factor in the year under review.
However, the 2006 theme was to grow as one strong and Godly assembly.
3.0
THE SEVEN FOLD ASSEMBLY PILLARS
a)
Gospel Ministry
Gospel ministry
continued to be done in the meetings on the Lord’s Day in the assembly
hall. The assembly did not conduct out door meetings. However through
these meetings, brethren took turns to preach
and teach the
believers, backsliders and unbelievers. As a result four (4) new souls
believed. Outreach work to Chongwe was well conducted by two brethren
commended for short mission work: Brother Goliath Lungu and Ronald
Chibwe ministered every Lord’s Day to the people of Katende village.
Many brethren from Youth group, Choir and the assembly at large
visited Chongwe to encourage the work.
b)
Added to the Fellowship
Six
brethren were added to the fellowship after passing through the waters
of baptism. Four brothers from assemblies of the like faith were also
received into fellowship. No one was put out of fellowship for sin or
false doctrine. However two brothers and two sisters were restored into
fellowship after their public confession of sin and repentance.
c)
Baptism
Twelve
brethren were baptized in the year under review 2006; four were from
Chongwe and two from
Kaunda Square
. However, due to the small number of those who needed to be baptized
this could not be done quarterly. The baptism class continued through
out the year under elder Munjunga.
d)
Bible study and Teaching
Brother
Banda continued to lead the bible study at
16:00
hours on the Lord’s Day. Attendance was unsatisfactory, but several
topics were tackled, ranging from the eating blood, healing and
application of oil and assembly
leadership
e)
Fellowship amongst Saints
Fellowship
amongst saints grew from strength to strength and the assembly did not
handle any disputes between saints. However, sectional meetings could
not be revamped at ZAF Lusaka and National Institute for Scientific and
Industrial Research (NISIR) Old Avondale and Chelston Market were also
poorly attended. The brethren an Police Camp, Kamanga and Chelston Small
Market continued faithfully meeting to share into the Word. New Avondale
brethren met regularly and faithfully too.
The Assembly
Register was updated though new entries are still being received.
Guidelines were issued on fellowship, breaking of bread and funerals and
this was posted on the notice board for all to read.
The sisters
could not nominate an additional matron to the youth team but elected to
regularly send a sister to attend the youth meeting, However sister
Chishala accompanied the youth on all outings as spouse to the patron as
recommended by the assembly.
f)
Breaking of Bread
The Lord’s
Supper remembrance feast continued to be well attended; the brethren
broke bread to remember the Lord, worship Him, await His appearance and
to have fellowship together. The brethren decided to change from altar
wine to grape juice as altar wine was deemed to be a strong drink. The
brethren continued using one cup and one loaf.
g)
Prayer and Prayer Meeting
The assembly in
the year under review held prayer meetings on Saturday afternoons.
Elders alone poorly attended the meetings usually. The annual thanks
giving day was held by the assembly and gifts for the building project
were received from saints.
4.0
BULDING PROJECT
The brethren
undertook to make two lavatories functional in the assembly hall. Glass
panes were fitted in the windows, and electrical conduits were laid with
switches and outlet sockets.(more details in the financial report).
However only two additional
seats were bought for the church hall due to the financial needs of the
building.
5.0
VISITORS AND VISITS
The assembly was
visited by the Chilenje and Kamwala
main assembly choirs and brothers Peter Chance and Kamfwa
spoke the Word to the assembly.
Brother
Timothy Fwalanga spoke at Hellen Kaunda and Chilenje assemblies whilst
brother Bernard Chishala spoke at Ngombe and
Kaunda Square
assemblies.
Brother
Bernard Chishala visited Jalan Imbi Chapel in
Kuala Lumpur
Malaysia
while on official duty with the
government.
6.0
INVITATIONS AND MEETINGS
The assembly was
invited to the Lusaka Gospel hall conference in the year under review
2006 and was represented by men women and the youth. The Assembly was
also invited by the
University
of
Zambia
Brethren Fellowship and was represented by brother Siwale.
Brother Munjunga attended a counselor’s training programme but
there was not much activity on the health programme.

i.

our beloved elder Walima who was called home to be with the Lord, and
also brother Vincent Mwaba who left the assembly leadership, two more
brothers shall be recognized into the oversight.

continue to receive into fellowship those who believe and are baptized,
those commended from other assemblies of the like faith and the
repentant backsliders. Unbelievers and those put out of fellowship are
considered not in fellowship.

will study books of the in bible beginning with the Acts of the
Apostles; saints will be encourage to research and share in this study;

year, urgent areas being: flooring, painting, pulpit and baptism pool,
drains, gutters, interior doors, public address system, curtains and
drapes, air conditioning and décor.
xi.
Regarding
collaboration with the assemblies of the like faith, the assembly will
be guided by the principles of autonomy and fellowship; that is;
participate
xii.
ion in conferences
and seminars when invited but not in administrative meetings.
xiii.
Our long term
Vision shall now on be “ To
be a missionary focused assembly”
xiv.
Our mission shall be
to preach, teach and disseminate the Christian gospel to the immediate
and distant souls in order to bring many to the serving knowledge of the
Lord Jesus Christ and to develop discipleship and parenting capacity for
all believers.
xv.
The 2007 theme
shall be “ to
diligently divide the Word of truth as delivered to us by the
apostles.”
xvi.
Our long term
centre piece programmes shall include infrastructure development on the
plot: i.e. erecting a detached kitchen with a refreshment shelter,
tuck-shop, nursery school, children’s shelter and car pack on the
eastern wing.
xvii.
The assembly
will host brethren coming on teaching missions from aboard and enable
them to conduct seminars or conferences.
CONCLUSION
The Year under review was a blessed year in which
we saw brethren participating fully in the building project as well as
in matters of believers well fare, the area of gospel preaching, prayer
and bible study need to be strengthened. The Lord Will surely bless His
work.
